About muhurat ·
What is a muhurat?
A muhurat (मुहूर्त) is an auspicious window of time for beginning a piece of work. Strictly, a muhurta is one thirtieth of a day — two ghatis, about 48 minutes — and the muhurta texts pick the window from the day's tithi, nakshatra, weekday, lagna and the good and bad parts of the day.
Which muhurat should I check for everyday work?
For travel, a purchase or starting work the same day, check the choghadiya (Amrit, Shubh and Labh are good) and avoid Rahu kaal, Yamaganda and Gulika kaal. Abhijit muhurta around midday is good for almost any beginning except on a Wednesday.
Why do muhurat timings change by city?
Every division of the day is counted from local sunrise and sunset, which differ from place to place, so pick your own city or search for any place in the world.
