Lagna (ascendant) (लग्न) — The sign rising in the east at birth. It is house 1 — the body and temperament — and fixes which sign falls in every other house.

Rashi (Moon sign) (राशि) — The sign the Moon was in: your rashi for the daily horoscope, kundli matching and Sade Sati.

Nakshatra (नक्षत्र) — The Moon's lunar mansion, one of 27, with its pada. It gives the name syllable and starts the Vimshottari dasha.

Bhavas (houses) (भाव) — Twelve houses for the areas of life — wealth in the 2nd, marriage in the 7th, career in the 10th. A graha colours the house it sits in and the houses it aspects.

Dasha (दशा) — The planetary period you are running decides which promises of the chart come to the front, and when.

What do I need to make a janam kundli?
Your date of birth, the time of birth as exact as you know it, and the place of birth. The time zone of the place on that date, war time and daylight saving included, is found for you.

What if I don't know my exact birth time?
The grahas' signs and the nakshatra stay right within a few hours, but the lagna changes about every two hours, and the houses and divisional charts with it. Use the best time you have and read the lagna-based parts with care.
How accurate are the calculations?
Planet positions come from the Swiss Ephemeris, the standard of professional astrology software. The default is the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa with the true node and whole-sign houses; each chart can switch to Raman, KP (old or new), Sri Yukteshwar and other ayanamsas, the mean node, and Placidus (KP), Sripati and other house systems.
Can I check kundli matching for marriage?
